Watches in Monaco

In a few days I am off to the Cote d Azure for some well earned holidays with my girlfriend. We are, ofcourse, planning to visit Monaco and in order to answer to my watchaddiction, I tried to google on watchstores in Monaco in the hope to see some really high-end watches in the flesh. However, most hits shows this:If anyone has tips for nice shops in Monaco/Cannes/St Tropez which are really worth the visit, let me know via e-mail or through the ‘comments button below....

Vintage watch catalogues

On the Dash, a website about Heuer Chronographs (for both on your wrist and in your racingcar) has a very nice section on vintage catalogues on chronographs. Click here for the vintage catalogues. The gallery of fake Heuer watches may come in handy when you are looking for a vintage piece to add to your collection. Great website!...

Athens 2004

As you probably all have seen (at least the people who watch the Olympic Games), Swatch is (again) the official timekeeper of the games. They use the Omega Swim-O-Matic for timing the swim competitions! Omega also designed other timing devices, check their https://www.omegatiming.com/ site for more info.Anyway, reason for Swatch to introduce a few Olympic Games specials. Like the Pheidippides, in a very nice and special giftbox....

Something really exclusive

International (Wrist)Watch Magazine

IW asks for reader feedback via the forum of WatchUSeek. I don t think very high of this magazine, and prefer German watch magazines for their in-depth articles and knowledge. However, maybe a poll like this changes it all and will make the magazine better than before. At least they should get rid off the articles on watches of brands that advertize on the same page ?? Here in The Netherlands we have a magazine called ‘Watching which suffered from the same problems as IW does, but got some serious WIS-injection. So there is hope!Update! It was not meant to trash the magazine, but to give some usefull pointers. In my eyes the editors of the magazine should be able to bend all criti...

Second best brand...

Unlike some other people, I also think Patek Philippe is the best watchbrand available! Artie, a member of TimeZone, made as poll to ask what YOU think is the second best watchbrand. Check it out!Is this one of the 2nd best brands?...

Vintage watch ads

Vintage watch ads are so cool! I used to buy some 60s and 70s National GeoGraphics magazines from fairs and bookmarkets and cut out all the cool watchadvertisements by Omega, , Patek, Longines, Bulova etc. BJSOnline has a lot of vintage watch ads online, you will find them here!...

Watches in the movies

Edward Heliosz made quite a list on watches that appeared in movies! Definately worth checking out....

Fratellos Guide To Omega Speedmaster Watches

Are you looking to buy an Omega Speedmaster but don t know where to start? We re here to help! Over the past 65+ years, Omega has created many variations of one of the world s most famous chronographs. The classic 42mm Moonwatch has been in the collection since 1965, and to the novice eye, little has changed since then. But if you look a bit closer, you will find that the Speedmaster evolved quite a bit in the decades that followed. In this Speedmaster guide, we ll give you an overview of the most important references of the Speedmaster (Professional) and some of its variations. Although this article isn t meant as a pricing guide, we will give some hints, of course. If you re already a knowl...

Lemania 5100

I decided I really have to save up for a Lemania 5100 driven watch ?? 2004 is probably the last year of production (introduced in 1978), and this movement is really worth the ‘investment .This chronograph movement is very sturdy and reliable and was/is used in Omega Speedmaster models, Sinn, Tutima, Bell & Ross and even in Alain Silberstein s watches. Except for the last one, all are very functional ‘tool watches so to speak.I think I want something like this, or a vintage Omega Speedmaster Automatic ST176.0012:Sinn 142ST...

Oops- they did it again...

We all know that Omega was chosen to be the supplier of the watch for NASA astronauts, this watch, is the famous Speedmaster Professional. Until now, every once in a while Omega introduces some sort of tribute to the Moonwatch. Most of them are standard Speedmaster Professional models with inscriptions on the caseback or on the side of the case. Like this one here.Omega also presented a case full of ‘Mission Speedmaster Professional models, these had a missionpatch on the subregister at 9 o clock. For the Last Man on the Moon mission, they even introduced a model with a Snoopy figure in the subregister at 9 o clock and a big Snoopy picture on the caseback. Note: Snoopy is a NASA awa...

All about the benjamins?

All about the benjamins Is that so? Since a few years, there are a lot of watchbrands on the market who produce watches with designs of (in this example) . Especially the Submariner. Now, we all know it is not done to own/buy/obtain copies of watches. It doesn t mind if it is a 10 USD fake bought in Canal Street NYC or a 150 USD copy bought on the internet. However, it seems to be legit and accepted to buy a MarcelloC Tridente or Nettuno which start in price around 400 Euro to 695 euro. This way you have something that looks like a Submariner for a fraction of the price of one. The same goes for Invicta, which are a bit cheaper I think. However, the thing is (there are even guys that try t...

Tag Heuer and Mercedes-Benz SLR

I always liked the Mercedes Benz Gullwing (300SL) and the same goes for its successor, the SLR. Tag Heuer teamed up with Mercedes Benz and designed the Tag Heuer SLR...

Vintage watches

Vintage watches are hot! For the masses that is, watchcollectors knew this for a long time already ofcourse. The day before yesterday, I got a notification that WatchUseek opened a Bulova forum. I remembered that I had written a review on a Bulova Accutron SpaceView some years ago, and asked myself why I sold it. Besides the fact that these watches are quite vulnerable and hard to repair, the movement that is. In fact, I sold most vintage watches, even a very nice Omega Seamaster Automatic Calendar and an Omega Constellation pie-pan in very very good shape with the diamondshaped hourmarkers. Am I part of the new school who just gets bored with vintage watches? No! I really love those watch...

Panerai Stylebook II

It is here, thanks Dave! I can only use it as a picturebook since it is in Japanese, but everything on Panerai is welcome. It will probably get a place on my bookshelf near the Time Capsule book by Imai on the Omega Speedmaster-series which are also in Japanese....

Highlights From The 2026 British Watchmakers Day

The British Watchmakers Day enjoyed its third outing with another successful show. With 48 brands and 26 event-exclusive timepieces, there was a lot to see. Some changes this year included splitting general admission tickets into morning, afternoon, and evening time slots. The morning tickets sold out quickly, but the evening still had spaces right up to just before the show. Another change was restricting the brands to 50 pieces of each limited edition. That meant there was a greater spread, and brands were reporting sellouts within hours of doors opening. I was there as the curtains went up to capture the full British Watchmakers Day experience. The change to limit special show editions w...

Which 1-000m-Rated Dive Watch Is Right For You? - Part II

When we published the first part of this exploration into 1,000m-rated dive watches, the response was immediate and enthusiastic. That didnt surprise me. Watches capable of surviving a kilometer beneath the surface occupy a fascinating niche. They go well beyond everyday practicality and venture into the realm of over-engineering, professional utility, and, often, obsession. These are watches that dont merely suggest adventure - theyre built for it.In this follow-up, I wanted to expand the conversation by introducing five more watches that approach the 1,000m challenge from very different angles. The first article got a lot of reactions from our readers, who rightly pointed out some excellen...

Why My First Speedmaster Had To Be The Calibre 321

Having been a part of the Fratello team for more than five years, I suspect some people might find it mildly shocking that its taken me this long to add a Speedmaster to my collection. With Fratello being so closely associated with the mighty Speedy, not owning one almost felt sacrilegious. The truth is simpler. I always knew I would own a Speedmaster one day, but I just never knew which one.Thats the blessing and the curse of the Omega Speedmaster. There isnt just one. There are dozens of references, dial variations, limited editions, and oddball outliers. Vintage, neo-vintage, modern. Straight-lugs, twisted lugs. Manual winding, automatic winding. I never wanted to rush into buying the obv...

In today s episode of Fratello Talks, we re taking a look at the first watch releases of 2026 and, based on patterns they present, seeing what they reveal about the year ahead.
