Top 10 Watches Overview of Models Favoured By Our Readers

April 10, 2012

It s time for our annual overview of Top 10 watches according to our readers. Based on the reads per article, we created an overview of the Top 10 watches that you like best. We have been publishing this overview of the Top 10 watches for a few years now, and we keep it up-to-date based on your reading behavior. In Fratello s 17 years of existence, we have covered very frequently. Not only because we like their watches a lot, but also because we know that you do. Did you know for example, that the demand for watches is unmatched on websites like Chrono24? In recent years, the demand for has increased to an amazing extent while the production numbers are supposedly nearly the same. Some even whisper that they ve gone done a little, but nobody knows for sure.Based on the click and reading behavior of our hundreds of thousands of unique visitors each month, we generated the following overview of the Top 10 watches (and ditto articles).Top 10 WatchesIt is a combination of modern and vintage , which also always remain the discussion among enthusiasts. There are pros and cons on either side and in our articles, we try to give you a couple of our thoughts on both accounts. We have a slight preference for vintage models ourselves, at least most of the Fratello editors, but the modern watches (if available) are simply HOT as well. The Top 10 watches overview below, has been generated using the interest in our articles in the past 12 months. Without further ado, here you go.1. Submariner 41mmLast year introduced its new Submariner collection and the world went mad. The new Submariner 41mm is slightly larger than the previous model, had a larger lug size, but thinner lugs that might remind a bit more of the non-ceramic Submariner models. Mike wrote an article on why he likes the new Submariner watches more than the 40mm ceramic models in this article.2. Submariner 126610LVThe third green Submariner reference: 126610LV. This 41mm edition is the successor of The Hulk which was introduced in 2010. A worthy successor of the green Submariner 16610LV (The Kermit), that was actually introduced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner. In this article, have all three editions side-by-side.3. Daytona Daytona 116500It is somewhat amazing that the Submariners receive more reads than the Daytona on Fratello. But perhaps some people just have given up on the brands chronograph that is just unobtainable. Unless you are willing to spend as much for this steel iconic watch as a mid-size family car. We have a few Daytona owners in our team, but I only see Ben wearing his quite regularly. His personal story on the Daytona can be read here.4. Explorer 36mmThe Explorer was always a bit of a for those who know. And perhaps it still is, but it did get amazing traction on our website when introduced the new 36mm editions in steel and in bi-color. A bi-color Explorer, how weird that may sound, is something were are (very) slowly warming up to. We covered the new Explorer here.5. DatejustOver the years, this overview of the top 10 watches changed from having not a single Datejust in there to an increasing position every year. You can t go wrong with a Datejust, it is a classic. This year, introduced new dial variations for the iconic date watch. We wrote about the new dial options here.6. GMT-Master II ‘Pepsi A GMT-Master II is hot, and perhaps hotter than it ever was before. We did an overview of all GMT-Master watches in this article, from the very first reference to today s available models. After a short while of being only in the catalog (I won t write available) with a jubilee bracelet, the Oyster bracelet is back. There wasn t much fuss about it when did its new introductions, but it was picked up by the fans rather quickly. We covered the comeback here.7. Explorer II 226570The watch that was expected! The Explorer II reference 226570 was introduced earlier this year, as a successor to the reference Explorer II 216570 that was introduced 10 years ago, in 2011. It used to be one of the most underrated sports watches, but not anymore. The updates have been kept at a minimum, but that might be just one of the reasons why they re so successful. Our introduction article on the new 42mm Explorer II can be found here.8. Submariner 5513From #5to #8 this year. The 5513 is the with a very long production run, but especially the 5513 in this article performed very (very!) well in the last years.9. Oyster Perpetual 126000The new Oyster Perpetual collection is focused on the 41mm 124300, but it also sparked your interest in the 36mm Oyster Perpetual 126000. This watch is available in many different dial colors and retails at $5,300. Rob wrote about the Oyster Perpetual 36 in this article.10. Submariner 14060The Submariner 14060 is still hot! This discontinued model is sought-after and prices are ever-increasing. The last ‘real Submariner as people tend to call them, with their aluminum bezel and sleek lugs. Here s a story Michael did on this Submariner 14060M watch with 4-liner dial.Where possible we used references in our Top 10 watches overview, but in some cases, it was a bit difficult to separate. For more information on , go visit their website here.*This article appeared first on May 25 2018, but we have updated it based on data from July 2020 till June 2021.
