Photo Report: An Evening With Blancpain (Fifty Fathoms)

Last week we organized a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms event together with the Tourbillon Boutique in Amsterdam. We invited a number of our readers to join us during an exclusive evening with Blancpain and to have closer look at the Fifty Fathoms collection. Blancpain brought all their 2018 novelties to the boutique, and our guests were able to try & feel them in person.Blancpain Fifty FathomsI am pretty sure you are aware of one of the most iconic diving watches in the world: the Fifty Fathoms. This diver was introduced in 1953, before the Submariner and Omega Seamaster 300 for example, and has some very interesting roots. Two French navy men by the name of Maloubier and Riffaud came up with ideas for a design for a professional divers watch. Then CEO Jean-Jacques Fiechter (on board since 1950) was interested and C being a diver himself C on top of this project. The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms was the first professional automatic divers watch with an uni-directional bezel and crown with two gaskets. Ever since it has been used by professional divers. Cousteau perhaps the most famous one also featured in this movie Silent world, but it also became the watch of choice for navies all around the globe.Tourbillon BoutiqueIn Amsterdam s PC Hooftstraat shopping street, you will find the Tourbillon Boutique. This multi-brand boutique concept store is owned by Swatch Group and all of their high-end brands starting with Omega. Blancpain is also represented by Tourbillon Boutique, so for us an excellent location to host an evening with this brand from Le Brassus. Blancpain s Brand Manager Arnaud Blandin from Paris gave a wonderful introduction to the Fifty Fathoms collection, including the Bathyscaphe models.A big thank you to all of our guests who attended this evening, to Blancpain for bringing so many great watches for the event and to Tourbillon Boutique for hosting the event.
