The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5077/100R-056 & 5077/100R-057 are created for the 2023 Patek Philippe Tokyo exhibition. These two limited editions of 10 watches each conjure up all the refinement of traditional kimono fabrics by combining several rare handcrafts. The gold dial plate is hand-guilloched with a motif destined to shine through the translucent enamel (flinque enamel). The Grand Feu cloisonne enamel decoration of Reference 5077/100R-056 required about 78 cm of gold wire (~0.66g) measuring 0.10 x 0.45 mm and 0.05 x 0.45 mm in crosssection; that of Reference 5077/100R-057 about 56 cm of gold wire (~0.45 g) measuring 0.10 x 0.45 mm in cross-section. The enameller then worked with a palette of opaque, translucent and semi-opaque enamels in 26 or 17 colors respectively, before refining the details with miniature painting on enamel in two further colors. Each dial underwent from 12 to 14 firings at temperatures ranging from 800C to 840C. The bezel and lugs are set with 112 diamonds (~0.87 ct) and the prong buckle sparkles with 29 diamonds (~0.24 ct).
