New: The Trilobe Une Folle Journee Rhodium-Plated Green

Last month, at Watches and Wonders 2025, I visited the Trilobe booth. It was my first time seeing the brand s watches, and they impressed me. The Parisian company depicts time uniquely through its pieces. The latest Une Folle Journee Rhodium-plated Green is a wearable modern watch in a new colorway.I m always skeptical when I see watches with unorthodox displays. Is it possible to improve on the ages-old two- or three-hand setup? Trilobe makes a case for a different style of easily reading the time. The latest Une Folle Journee in green may appear confusing from a distance, but the concept works.The Trilobe Une Folle Journee Rhodium-plated GreenTrilobe presented a green and rhodium version of its Une Folle Journee, a watch also available in blue or black with a rhodium-plated or black-finished movement. Unlike other futuristic concept pieces, this watch is wearable with its 40.5mm by 48mm Grade 5 titanium case. While the 17.8mm thickness is potentially foreboding, a bubble-like sapphire crystal is responsible for 10.2mm of it. Another surprise is the watch s useful 50m depth rating. Seeing this dial underwater would be a treat! However, don t forget to swap the green alligator strap for a more appropriate choice.A surprisingly logical way to tell timeThe latest Trilobe s dial consists of three non-concentric, non-overlapping rings. Working from the inside of the dial outward, the green and rhodium-plated rings rotate and display the seconds, minutes, and hours. A small red triangle sits at the bottom of the dial and marks the current time. While the inner ring for the running seconds is a slight challenge to read exactly, the hours and minutes are logical.A large dome provides an unimpeded viewI suppose the Une Folle Journee could work with a different crystal design, but it would mean adding a level or a thick, milky edge. Instead, Trilobe took the shock-and-awe approach with a highly domed sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating. The result is a bold, statement-type piece.The X-Centric micro-rotor movementTrilobe uses its X-Centric micro-rotor automatic caliber in the Une Folle Journee Green. The 196-part movement was designed in France and is built by Le Cercle des Horlogers in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. It has a frequency of 28,800vph and 48 hours of power reserve. For the green model, all of the plates and bridges feature a rhodium plating.On the wristNormally, watches like the Trilobe Une Folle Journee are interesting to observe, but they ultimately fall short for daily use. This watch is an exception because the size is reasonable, and the lightweight titanium case increases comfort. Plus, the colors are gorgeous against the skin. While I only had a few minutes with the watch, I had no issue quickly telling the time at a glance.Pricing and availabilityThe new Trilobe Une Folle Journee Rhodium-plated Green is priced at $20,400 (excluding VAT) and has a delivery time of four months. There are other watches with highly domed crystals, open-worked dials, and intriguing displays. Most of them cost multiples more than the Une Folle Journee, which makes this piece seem like a relatively reasonable offering. The finishing is impressive, and the in-house movement design shows the brand s serious intent.
