Panerai launches its next experience edition. But in a first for the brand, two Radiomir watches come as a set in 47mm bronze and platinum cases. Panerai offers its Experiences Program for collectors who want that extra level in brand relationship. We see this with other watch brands that offer tickets to loyal customers for high-profile events, like at Wimbledon and Omega at the Olympics. But a fully curated, crafted experience for enthusiasts is what sets Panerais Experiences Program apart. For this edition, buyers of each 30-set limited edition will journey through Panerais history with the Viaggio nel Tempo experience. This celebrates 100 years of the Piazza San Giovanni boutique in Florence, the original watch shop of the Panerai family.Since 2019, Panerais Experiences Program has taken owners on adventures money cant buy. Beginning with training with the Italian Navy, Panerai also ropes in brand ambassadors, such as South African explorer Mike Horn. On collector expeditions, Panerai owners get the chance to explore harsh landscapes and conditions and test their watches to the extreme. Not all owners want to experience the limits of human endurance, so Panerai also offers trips aboard its Eilean sailing yacht. The new Viaggio nel Tempo experience also takes a more relaxed approach while still offering buyers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Reserved exclusively for the owners of the new set, the journey starts in Panerais home city of Florence, Italy. From there, the experience retraces the steps of the brand s founders, from the historic boutique to Italian frogman operations. The trip then culminates in a breathtaking cruise along the Ligurian coastline.Panerai Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience BronzoWell get back to the experiences later, but now lets look at the pair of watches. The Viaggio nel Tempo Experience Editions marks the first time Panerai has offered a dual set of watches. Thats right; you cannot buy either watch from the brand individually. Perhaps down the line, an owner may wish to part with one of the watches for auction or aftermarket. But when buying new, you get a duo of watches limited to 30 sets. Even though these Radiomir references - PAM01729 (Bronzo) and PAM01730 (Platinumtech) - share similar specs, they both have distinct styles. The cushion case s 47mm width may be a turn-off for would-be buyers, but the outsized exterior leans into the heritage vibe of this special collection. The Bronzo version especially appears to come directly from Panerais maritime heyday of the 1930s and 40s.This watch s bronze case is made of an alloy of pure tin and pure copper to promote a distinct patina for each wearer. The dark brown rolled leather strap affixes to the slim wire lugs, a core characteristic of the Radiomir range. Another strong lineage of the Radiomir collection is the well?machined conical screw-down crown for satisfying tactility. Where the Bronzo really shines is the dial. The textured black backdrop hosts the California layout. With Roman numerals in the top half and Arabic numerals in the bottom, the split allows readability at any orientation. The most glaring omission is the absence of any logo. Bar the L Swiss L label at 6 oclock, which denotes Super-LumiNova application, the logo-free dial truly evokes the functional aesthetic of early Panerai watches. The thermally blued hour and minute hands also strike a nice contrast against the beige accents.Panerai Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience PlatinumtechAs much as both watches share similar movement specs, the execution couldnt be more different. The bronze piece houses the manually wound caliber P.3000 with a 72-hour power reserve, thanks to twin mainspring barrels. The broad movement fills the view through the case back s sapphire display, although the construction resembles a three-quarter plate and hides most of the mechanics. By comparison, the Platinumtech model goes all out in its mechanical symphony. The hand-decorated caliber P.3001/10 is a remarkable feast for the eyes. The mainplate uses a perlage finish and displays the gear train and balance wheel. Even the power reserve indicator is a work of art, with a gorgeous gold plate and hand. Theres sumptuous anglage on the inner angles of the skeletonized bridges with a mixture of radial and straight brushing on the top surfaces. Developed at Panerais manufacture in Neuchatel, Switzerland, both calibers showcase the brands watchmaking capabilities.Burying the lead, lets now get into the case of the Platinumtech Radiomir, as the tech designation is intriguing. Platinumtech is 95% pure platinum with an alloy treatment to increase its hardness and scratch resistance. The polished precious metal is notably hefty as a 47mm cushion case, indeed 33% heavier than the equivalent in 18K gold. The dial also features some design flourishes, including Panerais first-ever circular brushing on a black base. Combining with the iconic beige Super-LumiNova plate and stenciled numerals, this sandwich dial is possibly the most symbolic Panerai look. The Radiomir Panerai logo appears here, albeit in black engraving to maintain that vintage blank-dial feel. Complementing the more elaborate platinum style is the dark brown alligator strap with a polished trapezoidal white gold buckle. Even though both watches achieve 100m water resistance (with a 25% buffer), its best to swap the leather straps for rubber before aquatic activities. Final specifications and pricingAn interesting callback is the domed Plexiglas crystal on both watches. While the plastic crystal won t resist scratches like sapphire will, it does provide a bit of vintage charm with curvaceous distortion. But the real reason Panerai opts for Plexiglas on its largest models is due to the vast expanse of dial coverage. Sapphire is strong but brittle, and at broader dimensions, it is more prone to cracking. That said, the case back s exhibition window is sapphire with a titanium screw-in ring for the Bronzo model. The Platinumtech model uses the matching metal for the display case back for security.Coming back to the experience, the history tour runs from September 15th to 18th, 2026. Not only is there a full tour of the Florentine watch shop and local area, but owners will also journey to the Italian Navys original meeting grounds, training arenas, and diving sites along the Serchio River. The voyage concludes with a visit to the COMSUBIN base in Porto Venere and a cruise on a luxury yacht along the Ligurian coast. At $145,000, the whole package with the Bronzo and Platinumtech Radiomir watches and experience doesnt come cheap. For that price, Id also hope it comes with first-class travel, five-star accommodation, and fine dining. The 30 sets of the Panerai Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience will be available for sale starting in June 2026.
