Four years ago, H. Moser & Cie. gave the watch world the Streamliner Centre Seconds Matrix Green. The watch became a fan favorite and earned the nickname Green Dragon. Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon in Chinese astrology, the return of the Green Dragon is hardly a surprise. The fact that the illustrious watch is re-released together with a purple-dial version is. And the violet version comes with an official name that makes a nickname instantly redundant - Purple Haze.The first-ever three-hand Streamliner was the 2020 Streamliner Centre Seconds Matrix Green. Later H. Moser & Cie. from Schaffhausen also released a Smoked Salmon version. And despite the latter looking a tad brown for a smoked salmon, thats my favorite execution. The 2024 Streamliner Centre Seconds Matrix Green (6201-1200) and Purple Haze (6201-1201) are refined, updated watches if you compare them to the models that came out four years ago. One of the updated aesthetics is the use of a transparent lacquer logo. The new self-winding caliber HMC 201 is a technical evolution. What remains the same is the streamlined, fluid, balanced, and precise proportions that result in a harmonious 40 12.1mm watch.The organic Streamliner Centre Seconds Matrix Green and Purple HazeIn essence, nothing changed. Both the green and the purple Streamliner Centre Seconds have a lug-less, cushion-shaped steel case thats water resistant to 12 ATM and an integrated steel bracelet. The watches have a hollowed case middle and satin-finished forms on the sides. The presence of both brushed and polished surfaces underlines the fluid shapes of the Streamliner, which is unusual in a way yet simultaneously comforting. Theres something about the curvy shape thats highly relaxing to both the eye and the touch.The watch also has a curvy, subtly domed sapphire crystal and a comfortably arced bracelet for optimal wrist comfort. The bracelet is complicated in construction, with organic lines and wavy links showing a combination of a vertically brushed finish and polished bevels.Two dial optionsMoser fans who missed out on the Green Dragon get a second chance to catch this beast, the looks of which are dominated by the Matrix Green fume dial. Its a vibrant and electrifying green that also shows tones of more sober olive green and hues of red gold. The Purple Haze - you could give this watch the nickname Jimi Hendrix - has an intense violet dial that also shows blue hues. And on both lively dials, the H. Moser logo in transparent lacquer is present. It s a bit like a secret signature, la Breguet. Showing the time is a set of two-part, three-dimensional hands that feature Globolight inserts. Globolight is a ceramic-based material that contains Super-LumiNova.Those hands get their power from a 100% Swiss in-house movement, the automatic HMC 201. This is an updated version of the HMC 200. The new caliber with Moser s signature Straumann hairspring has partially skeletonized bridges and a modern-looking anthracite finish. The more open movement allows a way better view of its inner workings, such as the gear train, central seconds, and bidirectional automatic winding system. Through the sapphire window on the back, its also possible to see the engraved and open-worked 18K gold rotor. The skeletonization here also allows a better view of the three-day movement. The price for both colorful, updated Streamliners is CHF 21,900. What do you think?
